Disruption Series. You Are Here. Resisting the Urge to Fix Life’s Disruptions.

YOU ARE HERE.

I think that's what everybody's waiting to hear right now...

Somebody somewhere to stop and tell them, 'hey man, you're on the corner of Lost + Nowhere right now. If you cross the street, go up a block and make a left, then you'll be back on track’.

Ha. If only ...

And in our moment of uncertainty + discomfort, we are looking for markers, guideposts, something, anything to tell us that we're not lost, we're not alone, we're OK, that this is where we are... anything to acclimate us quickly so we can get back on track. So we can get the hell back to it. Right?!

I totally get that.

And guilty. SO guilty of doing the same.

But let me put this out there for your consideration ...

...So often, when we think that things have gone to sh*t, the exact opposite is happening.

Maybe, just maybe, the point is NOT to 'get back to it'. Maybe just maybe, the point was to disrupt and shake things up a little bit (or a lot depending on who you are ... !) so that you come out of the self-induced coma you've been in, maybe just maybe, getting lost is the exact thing you need at this moment to give yourself the permission, time and space to just breathe + reconnect with yourself. Your true self.

So often, when we think that things have gone to shit, the exact opposite is happening. Life is giving you an opportunity to connect + recalibrate. To level up. It's giving you another chance to get clear on the things that you've been holding on to, that no longer serve, that you've outgrown + that you're now ready to let go of ... to get clear on what it is that you truly want to do next, the thing that will serve you best and allow you to bring your absolute best to the world, to get clear on the areas that you've been holding yourself back and perhaps settling, when in fact, you deserve so, so much more ... whatever the situation looks like for you.

Peeps, I know it's a crazy times right now. I feel it deeply. And I don't say any of this lightly or without regard for those who are deeply suffering right now. I say this, because I was one of those people who were lost, on the corner asking for all kinds of directions. Trying to get back to the exact thing, that was not good for me, that was not in my best interest, that was a form hiding/settling and was not allowing me to shine my light in this world. Whatever it is that is being reflected back to you right now, I ask you to take it seriously.

Our initial impulse is to fix it, to whip it back to whatever state it was in before it was ‘broken’.

Maybe things are so turned around that you have no clue how to begin to make sense of it all. That’s ok.

Maybe it’s not this life-changing event for you. Your nudge could be as simple as just slowing the ‘eff down and giving your body time to rest if you're a self-proclaimed workaholic or reconnecting with those things and people that give you joy + light you up ...

The point I'm ultimately trying to make is that where you are, that's where you're at. There's no point in bucking against it. There’s no shame in it. You can’t speed it up and move it along. It's not about getting back to ‘it’ already. It's about right here, right now + how best are you honouring that. It is what it is, so why not surrender + allow yourself to make the most of it if you can.

In my post to come, I'll be sharing more about my personal journey with life’s disruptions and offer up some tips, perhaps some perspective with how you can cope with these crazy times and how not to lose your shit. Although, losing your shit can be good too at times... ;)

So reach out if you're feeling so inclined and let me know what's showing up in your life right now. How are you experiencing life’s disruptions right now …? I'm on the other end.

Much Love. Much Peace.

As if you have a choice,
Even if you cannot hear my voice,
I’ll be right beside you dear ...
